Welcome to this focus on one of the 18 heroes from Altered’s core set (Beyond the Gates). We will review the hero power of this Bravos Exalt and then present the different types of deck we can build around it.

If you haven’t read it yet, you might be interested to know more about the Bravos Faction and their overall mechanics with the Basking in Bravos article. Bravos’s first Exalt is Kojo & Booda. They have various playstyles and can thrive on multiple levels.

At Noon, if you are the first player — Create a Booda 2/2/2 Companion token in your Companion Expedition.

Don’t be fooled by this basic line, it can really be used for a lot of strategies.

So, every other turn you won’t need to play any card to have stats on board. This means we can use it in a few different ways :

  • Go aggressive and take an early lead
  • Gain early tempo and set-up our mid/lategame
  • Use our token as a boost receiver

Cards that fit well with this playstyle

As this is a very straight forward gameplay, the cards that fit here would fit a basic character based gameplan. Bravos Tracer is very aggressive and can really get you ahead fast. Haven Bouncer can be more suited for a control approach, and Sun Wukong can also be considered as he is a good statted card that stays in your reserve until your opponent finds a way to deal with it.

Improved starter deck

In this deck, we will take the starter deck and improve it with some rare cards to strenghten the basis. To me, this starter gives you a cool feeling of the game as it shows you how to play your cards and lot of keywords to get your hands on (but not too many).

Ramping on the fiery cat

The purpose of this deck is to get to the late game consistently with a mana advantage. You’ll achieve this with the various ramp cards that Bravos has access to. We will mostly use our power to not get too far behind in the early game and we’ll recover on the late game.

So here, the key cards are the ramp cards, and we will try to play most of them to get a lot of mana, and then play big statted characters.

This deck will tend more to be a combo-ish deck, we will use our early Booda to hold the board as we set-up. We will try to keep the statu quo while digging for our combo.
