Welcome to this focus on one of the 18 heroes from Altered’s core set (Beyond the Gates). We will review the hero power of this Bravos Exalt and then present the different types of deck we can build around it.
If you haven’t read it yet, you might be interested to know more about the Bravos Faction and their overall mechanics with the Basking in Bravos article. In our case, we will try to have a lot of boost and to train a lot of small recruit, such as the trainee, to grow huge, wise and strong!
Hero power
When a Character you control gains 1 or more boosts — You may exhaust me to have target Character gain 1 boost. (A boost is a +1/+1/+1 counter. Remove it when it leaves the Expedition zone.)”
Only by reading this, we know where we will be heading with this hero. However, I personally tend to think we can find other ways than just growing big seasoned cards to win against our opponents.
The tone is basically set however on what we want to run. To optimize our hero power we want to trigger it every turn if possible, therefore, we will run a lot of cards that can give or gain boosts.
Cards that fit well this playstyle
This Exalt really focuses on giving boosts and taking advantage of having boosts on characters. Firstly you can boost seasoned characters like the Bravos Bladedancer that comes strong with one more boost. You can even cycle the same card over and over using Helping Hand on it, maximizing the use of a seasoned card that will keep all the boost it gets. Another good usage of a boost is to use it on a gigantic character, thankfully there is a card that is both seasoned and gigantic that can really carry the whole game on its shoulder : Atlas.
Archetypes around Basira
Basic-ra
In this deck, we will try to give a hint on what basira feels like without having a really perfectly defined gameplan. This means we will play a basic midrange deck, and try to win an expedition whenever we can.
Almost all of our cards benefits from the boost or can give some, so we won’t have any problem triggering Basira’s effect whenever we can, and we can wait for the decisive moment of the day to use it!

Perma-sira, no good pun, i’m sad :'(
This deck relies a lot on the reserve and the effects you can get from it. You’ll play a lot of cards that have reserve effects and you’ll try to trigger them with the Foundry, Axiom Bastion.
This deck is more fun to play, once you’ve played a 1 Mana Ratatoskr that gets 3 boosts, you’ll see the joy in there!

Basi-ramp
As Bravos contains a lot of ramp cards, basira can also benefit from it. Still, she needs to hold the early game and sustains herself as she grows more mana.
In this deck, it will be decisive to ramp a lot and to finally make a huge day where you can advance twice as well as make your opponent unable to move.
