Welcome to this focus on one of the 18 heroes from Altered’s core set (Beyond the Gates). We will review the hero power of this Bravos Exalt and then present the different types of deck we can build around it.
If you haven’t read it yet, you might be interested to know more about the Bravos Faction and their overall mechanic with the Basking in Bravos article. The best swordsman of all Asgartha is to be taken seriously. It might take him a short time to warm-up but once he is pumped up he will unleash all his mana on the board.
Hero power
I begin the game with five Heroism counters.
When you play a Character with Hand Cost greater than or equal to my number of Heroism counters — Draw a card and I gain a Heroism counter.
Alright, now we know what I meant when I said it took a short time to warm-up. We need to play big characters to activate Atsadi’s power, therefore we will need to ramp up a lot to have a lot of stuff to play and to have a chance at winning against our opponent.
We might think it is anti synergistic to have a power that draws when we play a big character. Because playing a high cost character means we won’t suffer card disadvantage, as we can keep 1 card per turn and 1 card can be played twice (roughly), so it also means we don’t have to worry a lot about losing card advantage once we are activated.
Cards that fit well with this playstyle
Growing all game long, this is the purpose of this power. Bravos has a few ways to gain more mana than your opponent in a fast way. Mana Channeling and Tiny Jinn are really suited for this, ramping early or a lot will really help you crush your opponent in the late game. And how do you crush one’s opponent… by playing some big strong characters like Kaibara! This card is really a good way to comeback as well as to seal the game once you are getting closer to the win and have 20 mana to spare.
Archetypes around Atsadi
Lightning quick ramping
As the first thing we might think about when playing Atsadi is we need to get to those late game stages where his power shines, we will enhance this part.
In this deck, we need to ramp fast to be able to play our strong “big boys”. Therefore, don’t worry about taking an early disadvantage on the field, as your purpose is really to get back in the late game.

Surge-ical precision control
In our hero power, the second part of the power says “draw a card” and one plan we can set for our hero can be to try and smother our opponents ressources. Therefore we will create a list with a lot of Sabotage and other ways to control our opponent.
Control is another way to get to late game without having too many expeditions to recover.

Aggro-tsadi ?!?
One of the main problems of aggro deck is often the lack of cards at a certain point of the game. However, reading our hero power we might be able to overcome that.
This means we will play a lot of characters with strong stats and low costs, but some turns when we reach our 5+ mana can be slow and steady waiting for the aggressive cards to come back with the draw or to just assure a trade for the day with a Shenlong or a Kaibara.
Don’t be shy on the support effects, they can give you a lot of boost at the cost of card advantage!
