Welcome to this focus on one of the 18 heroes from Altered core set (Beyond the Gates). We will review the hero power of this Axiom’s Exalt. I will then present some cards fitting well with this hero and finally different types of deck we can build around it.
If you haven’t read it yet, you might be interested to know more about the Axiom Faction and their overall mechanic with the Adventuring Through Axiom Article. Treyst has a nice reserve mechanic that gains its power in the mid game. The reserve managing is what will really help you with this Exalt. Getting through the early game is the hardest part but later on it gets stronger and stronger.
Hero power
When a card leaves your Reserve during the Afternoon, if I have less than five Scrap counters — I gain a Scrap counter.
If I have five or more Scrap counters, I gain “: Draw a card, then put a card from your hand in Reserve.”
Looking at this power, we understand that getting to 5 counters will activate our “true power”, and before that we kind of don’t have any power. Therefore, our early game is weak and we need to activate it as soon as possible. Either by playing a lot of small drops, that can be reused from reserve for cheap, or using support effect to gain a free counter without using mana.
Some cards that resupply or put cards from your hand in reserve find a true meaning in the early game with this Exalt.
Cards that fit well this playstyle
We’ve seen this hero struggle in the early game but has a mid game that comes strong. Even with low cost cards you won’t run out of fuel because of the power once it is active.
Cards relying on the reserve effects as well as maintaining some cards in the reserve would fit well. To me, the Kelon Elemental is a great card for Treyst as you can start gaining counters faster and also have good stats. Haven, Bravos Bastion is probably the strongest card for this Exalts. You will have so many cards coming from the reserve that the effect grants a lot of stats. Also cards that resupply or give card advantage are necessary to maintain a good early game and strong stats coming late.

Starting with reserve managing
I would start with a basic get to handle the hero. Here the purpose is to quickly activate your hero power, therefore a lot of cards included will help you do that. As spells and permanents don’t go to reserve, we will not play many of them.
Once you’ve reached that midgame with your power active, you’ll try to overcome your opponent with some good stats for cheap that might come from the reserve as you will gain card advantage.

Flooding your opponent
The purpose of this deck is to rapidly flood the board with low cost cards. This gets your hero power active really soon. Even though the deck is weak in the early game, some Axiom cards have a big amount of stats for cheap when played from reserve.
You’ll try to flood with Haven, Bravos Bastion on the board, this will allow you to play a lot of stats with multiple small drops characters. And when your power is active you will most-likely not run out of resources.

Comboooooossum (That’s ossum)
In this deck we will try to build more of a combo deck around the rare hives and triggering the arrow effect to have a lot of scarabots. Therefore, one of the main cards to get is Brassbug Hive, this is needed to create a lot of token using support effects and some arrow triggering effect.
Once you’re set-up, you’ll need to find that hive and create a surprise turn where you can create big stats without using much mana with the support effects.
