Welcome to this focus on one of the 18 heroes from Altered core set (Beyond the Gates). We will review the hero power of this Muna’s Exalt and then present the different types of deck we can build around it.
If you haven’t read it yet, you might be interested to know more about the Muna Faction and their overall mechanic with their dedicated article : Marching into Muna. Rin & Orchid are a very specific hero, managing the reserve and ressources is key with them. But it isn’t an easy task, we’ll see how to handle this.
Hero Power
When one of your Expeditions moves forward due to — Draw a card, then put a card from your hand in Reserve.”
This might look a little abstract at first look. We can see two sides of this, we have to move thanks to Forest () to activate this, therefore our cards will be focused on this. Still don’t forget to cover all biomes or it could go really wrong. Also, we see we have a draw and put a card in reserve. So if we manage it right, we can have a lot of draws other the game.
A little thing to remember, you can really easily overflow your reserve with this power, so think it through or it will be almost useless to trigger it.
Cards that fit well this playstyle
We have to think optimally about this deck. Knowing we can use a lot of support effects encourages us to put a lot of them in there. So our deck can focus on an anchoring strategy, with cards like Muna Druid that can anchor cards other a few turns. We can play an aggressive playstyle, anchoring some cards over again or just playing low cost strong cards, to me Dracaena is a very interesting card for our hero.
Another way to play this around is to use reserve effect to keep our board flowing. For example, Muna Merchant is a strong card that also brings good forest stats.
In the next part, we will dive in some of the archetypes that can be built around Rin.
Archetypes around Rin.
Does it Rin a bell ?
As to get the basics of Rin, this deck will just showcase some stuff you can do with her. Starting with handling the reserve and support effects, we will focus on them.
The purpose here will be to continously have some characters sticking to the board and overflowing your opponent with them.

Okay, we now know how to handle the resources. However, another part of the hero power states that you can draw and put a card in reserve. Soooooo… Y’all know where i’m heading to…
Yeeaaah, we are going to build an aggressive version. This means that you will just want to close the game as soon as possible. So we will play a lot of low cost cards and some big bois to close it up.

Fest-Rin-val
One of the favorite deck i wanted to build when i first saw this Exalt. Aiming for the festival win is a different kind of gameplan and i really like Rin for that.
The main reason why Rin is the best in my opinion to pull out a Festival win is because with her you can really cycle through your deck with her power. Also, having the option to play some low cost characters that gain anchored even favoritises her over the Lyra heroes.
