The Time to Unite is Now

Hello fellow alterators old and new! Erleyah here, with a solemn but hopeful tone.

You have probably heard of the recent Gamefound news. If you haven’t, here is a reminder of recent events.

The Story So Far

On October 15th, Seeds of Unity was announced, along with a new way to order Altered products online, and through your local game stores, with a crowdfunding page reminiscing of the Kickstarter days

A few days after, the Last Chance Qualifiers of the World Championship happened, and they were a great deal of fun and collective exaltation (pun intended…?). Even though most of us fell in battle on the road to the qualifier spots, they were a solid display of the best that Altered has to offer. Community, connection, friendly rivalry (the Altered Aces beat us this time, but we’ll have our revenge yet!), and much, much more. The World Championship themselves were an incredible show, and, if I am to believe the feedback garnered around, it is a shared sentiment.

Some spoilers for Seeds of Unity were revealed there, and roughly a week and a half after, the Gamefound went live, gathering more than fifty thousand euros in a little less than 9 minutes, which is quite an impressive feat, if I’m being honest.

Tomorrow Comes

But, and we’re getting to the less fun part of this Gamefound deal,
Altered needs you. It needs me, it needs us and a whole lot of other people. An update posted to the Gamefound page broke the news on what was needed for Altered to continue and thrive. In short, it is a whooping 2 500 000 euros, and, at the time of the article, we are at a fifth of it, for the Gamefound part of the funding (not including LGSes preorder). If the 2 million and a half are not met, the Altered adventure will conclude.

Honestly? We’ll get there. It is a bit of a leap from where we’re at, but it is very much doable. But to spare us some dire news and an increased heart rate for a while, we’d like it to be a little less close

How You Can Help

The answer is simple: play the game. Engage with the community, and, if you’re feeling like it, do drop a few dollars (or the relevant currency depending on where you are) on the crowdfunding page. Depending on the kind of player you are, there is probably a pledge tailored just for you. Let’s go through a few.

For beginners: the Discovery and the Legacy packs, 30 and 300 euros, respectively.

The Discovery pack, shown left is the cheapest and best way to get into Altered coming into Set 5 : two starters featuring two of the new heroes, a Seeds of Unity booster, and a booster from every past set to relive the Altered experience thus far. Considering the MSRP of 15 euros per starter, you’re getting 5 free boosters with this offer, which is quite fair!

For those beginning their collection with a little more money to spare, the Legacy pack, shown right, is basically the Discovery pack, took to its fullest extent. A full booster box of every single set, 6 Organized Play boosters (3-card packs) from Trial by Frost, Whispers from the Maze and Skybound Odyssey, featuring alternative arts and an increased chance for uniques. It also features the very new Collector Booster with a lot of alt-arts treats and serialized cards, as well as the new Exalted (pun not intended) cards.

I assume seasoned players are already aware of the offers made to them, but here they are, just in case!

The Exploration pack
The Expert pack
The Supreme pack

The Exploration pack is for those who want to jump straight into Seeds of Unity, at a price of 120 euros, with a 24-booster display (the new, cheaper format) and a collector booster to boot!
The Expert and Supreme packs are much alike in their contents, having the booster boxes and collector boosters multiplied by 3 for the Expert, and 6 for the Supreme. Of course, the more you buy, the cheaper a single display gets.

The big lad itself, the Legendary pack

If you’re a collector just looking to rip packs for the thrill of it, the 2000 euros Legendary pack has got your back. It certainly is not for everyone, but it can be shared across a few people to cover the costs.

The Bottom Line

Altered is all about community, and much like their world needs to come together, so do we to continue to enjoy the game.
On behalf of the Exalts, from the bottom of our hearts,
Thank you for being there, and we’ll see you in the Tumult
