Seeds of Unity – ExAlts Reveal

It is that time of the year again and we hope you have had some merry holidays as well as wish you all a happy new year!

Seeds of Unity is right around the corner and we are once again blessed with a reveal, this time for the Yzmir faction!

The Encounter cards

Seeds brings us a few card cycles and we’ve been given the Yzmir card of the Encounter cycle! We’ve already had a few encounters revealed at the time of writing this, here’s one of them to remind you what they look like

The Bravos Encounter

You’ve waited long enough, and endured my teases of baguette time (if you know you know), so here’s the card!

Sports Encounter – Yzmir Rare

Gameplay-wise, they’re not really related. It is more of a flavor thing, showing how the Asgarthi and Reka people come together at the start of the set, before things turn out… uh…

Anyway. The card looks to be more of an Afanas kind of card, granting you a hefty 3 boosts for 2 mana, to be spent at your leisure among all characters you control. It is a 2 mana card, so it doesn’t gain fleeting from the old wizard’s hero power, and is precisely the kind of flexibility grandpa needs to get back on the front of the scene. It is not card advantage, but it is a great card nonetheless, reminding of Trial by Frost’s Moth to a Flame, for less mana.

The common seems to be 2 mana from reserve, and doesn’t have cooldown. It could be fleeting, but my guess is it doesn’t have a text to replace cooldown at all. The rare also offers to give boosts to characters in reserve as well.

Sports Encounter – Bravos OOF

Annnnd it’s the rare version! At first glance, it looks like a Basira card, triggering Unique boosts effects like drawing a card, giving fleeting, removing fleeting and so on.

I’m not much of a Bravos gal, but while the boosts are nice, the cooldown makes it much more hard to play in Bravos, as the exhausted mechanic is a lot less prevalent in that faction. To note, current competitive Bravos decks also run rare Physical Training which draws a card and gives 3 boosts to a single body for 3 mana.

I’m not quite sure how often it’ll be run, but it is very interesting nonetheless, if only for the After You support effect in a faction that has access to a very, very hungry boi…

This is a bit shorter than my usual reveals as a result of procrastination. I hope you enjoyed the card anyway, and we’ll see you on BGA! – Erleyah
